This Jazz intensive offers a unique focus on small-ensemble interaction and vocal-instrumental collaboration, for instrumentalists and vocalists with 2 or more years of experience who are interested in expanding their familiarity with jazz and building their repertoire. Students registering for camp will be asked to send a short recording of their playing. There will also be an opportunity for students to share a short piece, selection of scales or (for chord players) a chord progression on the first day of camp in a one-on-one setting. While not required, this lets us learn about student skills in the interest of providing appropriate challenges. This camp offers a unique focus on small-ensemble interaction and vocal-instrumental collaboration.
“Creative Kids” is a week-long, full-day camp welcoming our youngest campers to the world of performing arts.
Mornings will take campers on Adventures through Dance with local dance teacher, Rose Bedard. Be ready to explore outer space, the depths of the ocean, dense jungle terrain, and beyond! An adventure awaits each day as movers navigate through movement, music, dance, stories, and artistic expression in a playful introduction to dance.
Afternoons will be spent with local art educator, Dave Paarlberg Kvam, exploring Imagination Land: Performance and Paint! In this intro to set creation and performance, campers will paint imaginary lands, make creative wearables, and perform a show of imaginary play in front of a backdrop designed on a large scale Victorian Crankie!

Sonic Futures: Pop-Rock Modern Band Summer Session
Are you ready to play music that matters and is relevant to you? In this week-long intensive we’ll choose the songs we want to play and learn how to effectively rehearse while building music skills.
This intermediate level pop-rock band is open to youth musicians entering grades 8-12 with at least two school years of experience on their instrument. Musicians will work closely with Brian Boyes to identify and select songs as well as learn how to write their own songs.
Special attention will be given to building musical skills that support improvising and performing with stylistic accuracy. Musicians will learn how to lead themselves in a productive and collaborative rehearsal to develop covers and create their own songs.
The intensive will give participants a foundation to start their own band, prepare for the fall Sonic Futures Battle of the Bands and begin preparing for Vermont’s All State Honors Modern Band audition.
The week will culminate in a final performance.
