NOW Ensemble will perform new music by Michi Wiancko and music by NOW composers Mark Dancigers, Judd Greenstein, and Patrick Burke.
NOW Ensemble is a dynamic group of performers and composers dedicated to making new chamber music for the 21st century. With its unique instrumentation, the ensemble brings a fresh sound and a new perspective to the classical tradition, infused with the musical influences that reflect the diverse backgrounds of its members. Dedicated to the creation of vibrant new musical works, they have premiered and recorded dozens of new works by some of the most exciting composers of their generation. NOW regularly appears at major venues and festivals around the world, and released its seventh album, Before and After, in 2021.
TURNmusic is thrilled to support today's reading workshop and performance by the NOW Ensemble. This visit is made possible because of our collaboration with Judd Greenstein and New Amsterdam Records. We are committed to presenting and performing contemporary music while supporting equity among music creators, fostering inclusive audiences, and contributing to the cultural vibrancy of Central Vermont. We are dedicated, through our programming, to reflect all humans with intentional considerations around representation. Presenting eclectic and original performing arts experiences in Vermont since 2014, we prioritize sound art that invites listeners to be open and engaged in the experience. We are looking to be inspired, to be surprised, to learn from artists. Submit Your Music for NOW Ensemble Reading Session
We are excited to invite you to submit your original music for NOW Ensemble, a dynamic and forward-thinking collective of musicians dedicated to exploring and performing contemporary works. NOW Ensemble is known for its commitment to new music, collaborating with emerging and established composers alike, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in ensemble performance.
If you are an adult music writer looking for a unique opportunity to have your work brought to life by a talented group of musicians, we encourage you to apply. Submissions for readings will be chosen by Anne Decker and a member of the NOW Ensemble. Six works will be chosen for the readings and the writer will also receive a recording of the reading.
Submission Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Open to music writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience. We welcome music in any genre or style. Non-traditional notation is welcome, though directions must be clear - contact us for further clarification. The submissions should be able to be read in the moment. Age 18+
- Instrumentation: any combination of flute, clarinet, electric guitar, acoustic double bass, piano
- Length: 2-5 minutes
- Materials: Must provide digital score and parts no later than March 1, 2025. Send to turnmusicvt@gmail.com
- Cost: It is free to submit. Thanks to generous donors, we can now offer participation and recording of works for FREE to composers whose works are selected to be read by the NOW Ensemble. Selection in the reading includes a ticket to the evening performance.
- Date: Must be available for reading session on Saturday, March 15, 2025. 2-4pm
